What's In A Name?
The name Outrun Gravity embodies our human attempt at extending beyond the impossible.
As humans, we are constantly reaching, growing, and working to defy our limits. The Outrun Gravity movement is to create space that promotes elevated well-being, while in community with others. We know that we can’t reach our full physical, mental, and emotional abilities without a foundation of positive relationships and harmony with others.
How It All Began
Our Founding Story: Shared By Courtney Cornwall
My Trip To The Bahamas
Overworked and stressed from the challenges of everyday life, my trip to the Bahamas on an all-inclusive cruise could not come sooner. I went on vacation with a goal to rest, reset, and rejuvenate myself before going back to reality. But when I got on the boat, I looked all around me and saw an environment that wasn’t setting me up for success. I was surrounded by tons of unhealthy food and booze that would just leave you feeling hungover, guilty, and lethargic.
My Desire For A Meaningful Experience
During my trip I was craving social options that promoted health, wellness, and community but couldn’t find them. And that got me thinking… How can we go on vacation and come back truly feeling rested and recuperated? I started brainstorming ways to reinvent the way we think about “R&R.”
When It All Came Together
Three months after that cruise, I was one of 27 Lululemon Ambassadors selected from around the world to be a pace runner at a half marathon in Vancouver. I went on that trip thinking I would be helping people reach their running goals, but I walked away with a completely new mindset. That weekend in Vancouver was so much more than just a race. It was a complete wellness experience that involved community-building events, vision and goal breakout sessions, and relationship-building activities. I left feeling rejuvenated, motivated, and grateful. And I said to myself, “This is what R&R should feel like.” And it all started to come together. I knew I wanted to build a brand that would create experiences that promote health and wellness in social environments that are not only fun but meaningful. And that’s how Outrun Gravity began.
